"They go way beyond what I expected. They gave us Christmas gifts and drove us to the hospital when my son was sick. They encouraged me when I had no place else to go."

Single women and children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. FASC's Family Center stabilizes families in crisis and helps them access services which allow them to become self-sufficient over time. The Center provides basic needs and moves these families from our emergency shelter to transitional or permanent housing within 120 days.
After Amanda's father died, she lost her apartment and was forced to move in with friends. She called over 30 shelters but was unable to find a place with room for her and her young son. Two days before Christmas, she spoke with a case worker at the Family & Adult Service Center. They moved in the same day.
With help from her case worker, Amanda was able to find subsidized daycare and housing for her son. She enrolled in Seattle Community College and hopes to become a pediatrician.
