FASC's Representative Payee Program provides an important money management service for adults receiving social security income and requiring a payee. For many social security recipients with a history of mental illness, substance abuse, or severe physical disability, the Social Security Administration requires that they have a person or an agency designated to oversee the use of their monthly income.
As there are many homeless social security recipients, FASC started this program in order to help those individuals receiving social security income use that money to secure and maintain housing as well as meet their basic needs. Since the agency oversees how the funds are used, we could ensure that individuals in housing maintained their housing, and that our homeless clients used their income to secure housing. To this date, FASC has had tremendous success with helping individuals find and maintain their housing. Furthermore, due to the quality money management services our agency provides, the number of people requesting our service grows every month.
